Regulations require Waste Generators to ensure cradle-to-grave tracking of hazardous waste. In January, 2015, Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) allowed the use of electronic version of the AER Alberta Oilfield Waste Form. Currently, most organizations still track their waste shipments through paper based forms. The current system is archaic where there is always a risk of misinterpretation resulting from illegible handwriting and carbon copies getting lighter down the stack and over time. Also, the paper forms do not provide any visibility for an organization to know and understand when and what kind of wastes are being generated by their facilities. Field personnel currently have to duplicate a lot of information for every paper form, besides the time spent by Environmental Co-coordinators on manual reconciliation of waste manifests every year for reporting to the AER.

Efficiencies can be gained by cloning manifests and using pre-configured drop-down and type-ahead menus to minimize errors. Manual reconciliation of waste manifests for internal and external reporting has been replaced by a button click to generate the required pre-built reports.
